Shake-in-a-Bag Master Seasoning Mix

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 teaspoons onion powder
3/4 cup whole-wheat flour -- (soy flour for gluten-free or diabetic diet)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 pinch cumin -- (add more if you like hot spice; leave it out for no heat)
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup dried fine-ground bread crumbs

Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container labeled with name and date. Store in a cool, dry place. Extend the shelf life of this mix if you are not using it very often and store it in the freezer.

Yields: approx. 1 1/2 cups dry mix (24 one-tablespoon servings)
Shelf Life: 4 to 5 months; 8 months in the freezer

VARIATIONS: add the noted ingredient for the appropriate food type
Beef: 1 tablespoon beef bouillon
Poultry: 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
Pork: 1 teaspoon dried sage
Seafood: 1 tablespoon dried lemon zest

When you are ready to use the shake-in-a-bag mixes for preparing your meal, first dip your food into the liquid mixture that follow. This liquid will help the seasoning adhere to your meat, poultry, or seafood.

1 egg, beaten
1/2 to 3/4 cup milk

Mix the egg and milk together. Dip your meat/poultry/seafood into the liquid mixture and then toss into a bag with the seasoning mix; shake to coat. Fry or bake as desired. Pure heaven! Throw out any leftovers.
